Creative Writing 3: Short Story and Personal Essay
In Creative Writing 3, students will produce two pieces for workshop – either two short stories, two personal essays, or one of each. The emphasis on reading continues, but during the first half of the course, we read specific types of writing – and write pointed exercises – designed to help you experiment with style and personalization of voice (i.e. your individuality as a writer). At the end of the course, students will give a reading, and as part of that we spend an entire class on the value of rigorous editing.
This class is designed as a follow-on from CW1 and CW2.
